Hi all! This is my first time posting on this sub, I mainly use Reddit for the most mundane, and guilty pleasured TV lol.. so this is a bit different for me. This is mostly a discussion, as I’m looking for opinions, as well as some tips and advice.
So my dad is a car enthusiast and has been selling antique and unique cars for decades. The other day, the question of car innovation came up. He argued that he thought cars have reached their peak of innovation, and that there is unlikely to be a new blueprint of car making in the future, besides the obvious of flying cars. He thinks Electronic Fuel Injection was a major breakthrough in the automobile industry and we’re unlikely to experience any other groundbreaking moments in car engineering/technology and design. Even the push to electrical cars isn’t regarded as groundbreaking enough.
So I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how a car of today can be “reinvented”, besides the obvious of flying cars, full autonomy, etc. What do you guys think is the future in car innovation, or have we reached the peak of creativity, in regards to design, but also engineering, manufacturing, etc.
I’m also looking to add to my portfolio, so i thought it’d be cool to maybe make a small project out of these ideas.
All ideas are welcomed!
ETA: if there are any other subs anyone would recommend that are discussion based and related to my ideas, let me know please. Thanks!
Great design resource
