100 Things Every Designer Needs to Know About People (Voices That Matter)
Any tips as to what questions I should be ready to answer? I've only ever worked for myself.
Hi there, I'm a designer based in the UK looking to work with a factory in China to produce a range of throws for a homeware collection. Has anyone got any advice on where to begin this process- specifically, how to find a trusted company, and whether or not to use a middle man? Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Disclaimer: I am one of the founder.
My friend is an artist with no background in design, what do you think of her first poster design?
Hey y’all, I’m a Graphic designer based in Nyc looking to break into experiential marketing. Are there any people that have experience in this form of marketing and could give me some tips on how I can get into this industry?
Much appreciated :)
Sorry if this isn't the appropriate place to post this. I am currently employed as a designer in a position that potentially will pay for my master's education. My current roadblock is what exactly I want to get a master's degree in.
Currently I'm considering business management. I would like to either advance my career here to art director or even beyond that, but also have the potential to sign on other places at a higher level.
Would any design professionals with experience in this realm be able to give me some insight to the best path here? I am definitely getting a master's in something and ideally would be doing it for a position/pay increase rather than just for the title.
Thanks a ton, and if this needs to be moved I'll do it.
How are they creating that custom printed look? ie making the edges slightly rough but not uniform in any way?

I was thinking maybe rasterise the text and rotate a few of the letters, make the kerning irregular and then scale up to pixelate it real bad, then bitmap at 50% threshold?
Any other ideas?
Ladys and gentlemen, i created this website with the objective of creating a brand that pretends to be revolutionary.
No social correct, no bullshit, the objective is go to the core of the problems that affect out modern society and exposing those problems trough art, spiritualism, and marketing. The brand englobes different areas, so if you like the concept and you are interested in an serious collaboration , send an email to [eridu1universe@gmail.com](mailto:eridu1universe@gmail.com), or just chat with me.
check the website www.eridu1universe.com to see this concept developing with your eyes and mind. Lets make magic happen.
Good vibes to everybody
(Hopefully this is the right place).
I've recently been researching alternatives to PS due to preferring a flat payment to a subscription model (I did't use PS professionally). I was mostly using PS for drawing and character concepting, while also regularly using it for photo manipulation and composition. I was recommended Affinity Photo as an alternative with a similar range of functionality. However, I'm not sure that it's as suitable for character/environment/other drawing-based design as it is for purely photo-based projects. Can anyone who's used both programs, or perhaps Affinity Designer, give me their opinion?
EDIT: For clarity, most of my drawing-based projects were scanned and then coloured/traced as opposed to being drawn directly in Photoshop.
Hello everyone! Recently, I realised that the IT work I have been doing since 2012 isn't fulfilling me the way that my brief stint in design had from 2010-2012 had. While the money is pretty goid, the work is leaving me pretty dead inside, so I'm starting to slowly get back into design.
I know that this will be a very broad way of asking the question, but how would people here tackle getting back into design after such a long time away? While I was doing design, I primarily did IA and visual design for web.
I'll be happy to hear any ideas and answer any questions you all may have!
tl;dr - Does anyone have a recommendation for custom menu design software that is easy/free for non-designers to edit?
I'm an in-house designer for a winery and high end restaurant; same company, different properties. I'm at my wit's end with the beverage manager at the restaurant. At the CEO's request, I had designed custom menus for the restaurant including their wine & spirits list, which is extensive. The bev manager often changes brands and vintages; no problem, I can make those changes and send the menu file back over to be printed with little delay. However he insists vehemently on having editing power. Alright no problem, I built a fillable form so he can plug and play and the menu will match the others and remain in line with the brand. We've been back and forth over this for a few months. I went to the restaurant recently and found the beverage menu to be in disastrous shape, none of the fonts match, the registration is different on each page, the edges are hastily cut and torn- it's an embarrassment for a restaurant with $100 entrées. Bev manager redid my design as a frankenstein between Word and Publisher. I feel I've tried every angle with this guy- I'm out of ideas and would love to hear any suggestions. I'm hopeful there's some software that can do this for us that I simply haven't found.
I’m looking for someone to design a cover for a poetry book I’m going to self publish on amazon. If anyone is interested please comment of message me. And no I’m not asking for free labor, I’m not that dick head who expects free shit from people.
Digging around on Fiverr, one artist is highly rated but also says they take their sweet time and despite many excellent reviews, there are some 1 star reviews about cancelling orders due to timeliness. What's a reasonable turn-around time for a $200-$400 business logo (including the vector file and social media kit, stationary, option for a few revisions)?
Broadstrokes I'm thinking a place with three main functions:
Somewhere where people can come and get quick jobs done, i.e. background removal or their logo changing colour. While this work would be free we would encourage people we do the work for to make a smol donation to our bi-monthly charity.
Somewhere to provide assistance for designers that have questions, hopefully reducing the flow of [help] posts to this sub.
A place where we can co-ordinate pro-bono 'fix-ups' of smaller causes that cannot budget for design. Be they local causes, international but niche - so long as they make the world, a community, or anyones life better they can qualify. I have a lot of experience in the charity sector and some people can be very hesitant in where they give their money. Their fear is usually unfounded but improving the brand image of smaller causes can be a big deal in increasing their donations.
It's just a thought, but if anyone is interested I'd rather you post here so we can get a public discussion going rather than DM'ing me.
Many thanks for reading,
James.
I'm teaching a yearbook course, but my standards cover a lot about designed and careers, in which I'm not an expert. It would be great if they could talk to someone who went to school for art, design, or something along those lines. The class is in small high school in Atlanta.
Just curious how the process went and if it's profitable.
I’ve been messing around w graphic design for about 2 years and feel capable enough to start working on album covers/gig posters but have no clue how to go about finding clients. I’ve had a few reddit posts get decent traction but have had very few inquiries, what would be the best way to find clients?
Does anyone know a website that generates briefs for brochures, magazines, flyers, user guides, logos, complex branding and so on(Just for practice and portfolio material)? Or if there's no website to do that, are there websites with pre stabilized briefs for practice?
Thank you in advance!
I'm not sure if this is the correct subreddit for this - and if it is not, I apologize. I would like to pay someone to design a logo for my new business.
The name of the firm is Wrigley Development Partners and we are a solar developer in Chicago.
What is a fair price for whomever designs the best logo? I'm happy to negotiate.
Please let me know if I should post this elsewhere, I read the rules of the sub but they seem fairly nebulous on this topic.
Thanks!
Hey everyone, does anybody know of any websites where they host tones of poster design available for download. Not looking for templates rather uploaded art that I could either download directly or pay to download.
A few I found were...
-Power to the poster https://powertotheposter.com/
Although it’s pretty political and that doesn’t fit what I would need a bunch of unique posters for.
I also found Typo/graphic posters https://www.typographicposters.com/posters
Although this website doesn’t permit downloads, rather it’s a place for people to look at other poster designs I guess. But if it did, the posters/designs on this website would be ideal.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and saving me the headache of scouring the web for a few mediocre poster design.

I think artwork like this is really cool, and I wanted to start learning the process of how to eventually get to this point.
