Question on design principles.

Okay, so we all know if we put a dark colored box inside of a light colored box, the dark colored box inside will appear to be lighter due to the lightness of the box around it.

One of the issues I am having is I essentially have the dark box inside the light box, but I also have some text below the boxes that is the same color as the dark box.

Due to proximity, the dark box inside the light one, is appearing several shades lighter than the text, even though they are the same color.

Should this be left this way, or is it okay to make the text a lighter color so that it appears more uniform to the eye. This way it will appear to be the same color to users, however, they will actually be different.

One of the things that worries me about doing this, is if there are other marketing materials that will use a similar color scheme, it may be difficult for the client or future designers to decide which dark color to use.

Thanks!
