Any High School Design Instructors Out There?

I currently teach Illustrator and 3D Modeling / Architecture at a community college, and have taught at 4 year institutions before, but starting a high school class soon thats much more of a full time gig.

Wanted to know if anyone out there currently teaches a digital design class in a high school environment, and any points or tips they might have. Whats the day to day like. Did you use any external resources for your lessons/tutorials. How long did students spend time on one particular assignment/project. What kind of projects did you assign. Did you teach basic design fundamentals like shape, color, balance, hierarchy, composition, etc. If the class was digitally focused, did you also teach sketching, line-weight, shading, etc in order to give them tools for conceptual design?

Although my course will be generally considered as part of a "Career in Technology" course, I have a good amount of freedom in the curriculum, and what tools/resources i can ask the school for. They're basically starting this whole department for me, so im excited to have an experience thats unique and exciting for the students.

Any resources, comments, suggestions would be welcome from those with experience in design education.

Thanks in advance.

Great design resource
