These are some simple scripts I patched together from various sources. They're not very complex, but have saved me a shedload of time when trying to get a "natural" randomisation in InDesign in lieu of fonts that can do the job for me (many of which I've made, too).
Use them to randomise:
- baseline shift
- rotation
- scaling
- stroke thickness
Have fun, ask questions, you know the drill. Full info at rrry.me/random.
A few disclaimers:
- Save your stuff first.
- This isn’t really undo-able (or you’ll be undoing one letter at a time). Save your work first, and use the reset tools to clean up text if you need to.
- Don’t try and apply the effect to too much text at a time, or be prepared to wait.
- Some of these effects may play havoc with kerning.
- If you add new text, you’ll need to select it and apply an effect again.
- Feel free to poke around in the scripts. It’s inherently pretty simple stuff to extend and expand.
- You may have to apply a stroke colour before stroke thickness can be randomised.
