Looking for tips to speed up my work flow

I'm new to web design. I have a WordPress site that I'm making some changes to but it's taking a really long time. I spot something on the page, edit in firebug, then go to my css, edit, save to ftp, refresh. This is taking hours because there are lots of small design elements to change. But it's not even a complex site.

Any way I can speed this up?

Any general tips for working faster that you've learned?
