Portfolio ideas for an aspiring front-end engineer.

Hello all! I need some advice - perhaps you can help me?

I've been studying 'digital media technology' at a local community college for a while now (it's actually quite decent) and have increasingly taken a bent towards front end development. I am going to be graduating in the spring and need to start filling out my portfolio with side-projects.

I am wondering if any of you who do front end dev work have some suggestions for projects I could take on that would be a good display of my front end dev skills. I'm not amazing at the visual design aspect of it, but I can more or less easily turn a pre-existing visual design into a working html/css/js site.

I have not had the opportunity to talk with many front end devs or the people that employ them, so I am not quite sure what someone hiring a junior level front end dev would find impressive or (hopefully) irresistable.

TLDR

Recommend me some front-end dev projects to fill out my portfolio.

Thanks for reading!
