With all the recent drama going on in the YouTube community, mostly negative, I started to wonder why there isn't an alternative. What does it actually take to create a website that rivals YouTube? Is anyone interested in starting a Kickstarter or other group-funded project towards this goal?
I'm just imagining bare bones it could be a bit ugly and basic (I mean it's just videos with a view count, comments wouldn't even be necessary to begin with) and the only necessary part is the functionality of hosting the videos themselves.
Any Ideas?
