I need help with my frontpage.

First of all i want to say that i'm very new into web designing and i'm using a website-builder (Squarespace).

I'm making a website for my dad, he's a painter/artist, but i don't really know what to put on the frontpage to make it look simple and professional, and still have some of his artwork on it. :)

I'm not sure if it's the right place to ask, or if i'm bending a rule regarding self-promotion or something, but i really hope you can help. :)
