Can anyone help me understand how this design was achieved?

I really like the look of the writing for logo and the background on this site: http://www.quran.com/

It's like an Arabic calligraphy, which is not unique to the site because I have seen the same thing all over the place when I've traveled to the middle east

Does anyone know, can I accomplish something similar with a font type? It must be a popular font since so many businesses use it overseas, right?

in other words, how can I recreate this sort of styling for other words/sentences?
