Best way to write code with a friend (or colleagues)?

Hello,

So I am reasonably new, kind of, to web design and my friend is too. We want to construct a website together so we can learn new things.

What ways are their to write code with people (over networks) - so that when I change code it changes for him and vice versa. So we can directly edit the same files and see each other doing so.

I use sublime text 3 which is nice, but I don't think this would be possible using it - you could have the html and css and other files in a cloud folder like one drive, however the changes aren't in real time (or anything close to it).
